A piano is best left to acclimatise to it's new environment for 1-2 weeks before tuning.
When a piano is moved professionally it may in fact still be in tune at it's destination. However changes in temperature and humidity will affect the piano over time.
A piano should be tuned at least once every year to keep it not only sounding great, but it's health maintained. If you let it lapse longer you risk breaking the strings when pulling them up, and great care must be taken, often requiring a 'pitch raise' before a second tuning session. We advise it is wise to keep your piano tuned rather than pay for this procedure or the replacement of broken strings.
